The two important characteristics of an electron are its mass and charge these are described below
1. mass of an electron
The mass of an electron is about 1/1840of the mass of hydrogen atom which is the atom of lowest mass the mass of a hydrogen atom is 1 U, we can say that the relative mass of an electron is 1/1840 U. The absolute mass of an electron is however,9×10-28 gram.
2. Change of an electron
1. mass of an electron

2. Change of an electron
The absolute charge on an electron is 1.6×10-19 column of negative charge.Now,1.6×10-19column has been found to be the smallest negative charge carried by and particles so this is taken as the unit of negative charge.
